We'll always have Paris
I am in love with this picture, the one in the header, yup the one I put up today. Gawd yes its a totally filmy-fake scene but don't you absolutely luuurrvve it??? Who hasn't dreamed of being caught in a rain shower with that special someone to cling to! You know how it is..walking down the street (is still more "awwww" inspiring if the said street would happen to be in oh... I don't know..Paris??) and it happens to be a little windy and just a little cold. Your hair is all loose and long (preferably the ladys' but if the guy happens to be Brad Pitt..well all I am saying is go and see 'Interviews with the vampire', he is absoeffinglutely yummy in there mmmm...but I digress) and suddenly it starts pouring and you look at each other and burst out laughing. How cheesy am I??? Or lets' shift our focus on to the other jumpy man in there..haha what wouldn't I give to be so uninhibited. I remember as a child stripping to my chuddies :P (underpants for the non-hindi speakers) and jumping around like crazy in the yard in the rain. It was so normal to do it then, even expected! Only no-no was the very first rain of the season, something about it being polluted and stuff (like it was washing the atmosphere or something) and then waiting for the next time for it to rain was pure agony!! It could happen any time but it should be the right time. Definitely not when in school and not after dark, not while at somebody else's place and etc etc.. This one time I got down from the school bus, I must have been 13 or 14 then, yup the days of chuddy-dancing were far behind, and it was raining cats and dogs, everyone else who got down with me was waiting under a shed for the rain gods to pipe down a bit but I couldn't resist it, no I wanted to walk in the rain, I wasn't a wuss! What's a little bit of rain. So I and this little kid, whom I used to walk home, marched bravely and were drenched to the bone by the time we got home. Obviously when he fell sick I black-mailed him into telling everyone it was his idea in the first place (he worshiped the ground I walked on :P). God I miss those days. The rain here on the east coast of US of A is definitely not the same. Its never that hot for people to actually pray for it to rain in the first place and when it does rain its icy and unfriendly. Everybody walks like zombies with their hoods drawn over their faces, like wishing to avoid a clingy, unwanted "friend". It's been raining since morning today, spring is just around the corner (though I guess officially its already here since I had my spring break about a month ago! But I refuse to acknowledge its presence till I see atleast a single bloom) and I am waiting for my summer break, well not a break exactly since I'd be working in my lab, researching some stuff I have absolutely no interest in and definitely do not understand but don't have the courage to abandon. Yes I would have loved to study literature but then it was too girly for me, I wanted to have a career where I could/would earn big and be all independent. I guess what I was afraid of was people NOT expecting a lot from me coz I happen to be a woman. Well that was stupid! But coming back to waiting for the summer part, yes so the university is deserted since all the pesky undergrads are gone and I walk around feeling as if the whole place belongs to me :) I love that! And its a very beautiful campus really, set in a rural area, a couple of lakes thrown in for good measure, the beautiful old architecture holding its own against the ritzier newer buildings, and the cow barn right behind my department (our univ makes its own ice-cream, and its effing delicious!). So yes, I am waiting for summer quite eagerly and wish to being caught in a rain-shower in good ol' Delhi sometime in near future. Meanwhile my sweethearts we'll always have our memories aka Paris to make us smile :)
